Elected County Officials
There continues to be no representation for Democrats at the County Level as well as at the State and Federal Levels of Government in the State of Florida. Incumbents find it easier to be re-elected because their positions offer benefits that challengers do not have such as name recognition, strategic endorsements that boost their image, and even short term experience can be used as evidence that they are the best person for the job when seeking re-election. The incumbent advantage is a vicious cycle that permeates Ft. Myers, Lehigh Acres, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, Estero., and Fort Myers Beach. Further, once in office elected officials will nominate and appoint individuals who share similar values and goals.
